American Pharoah works 7 furlongs at Santa Anita (with video)
Zayat Stables’ Triple Crown champ American Pharoah breezed seven furlongs Wednesday morning at Santa Anita Park as he continues training towards his final start in the Oct. 31 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Keeneland.

“He went really well,” said his Hall of Fame conditioner Bob Baffert of the move that went in a lively 1:23 flat. “We wanted to get a strong work out of him and it looks like he handled it really well. He’s reaching, running and looked like he came back happy, so we’re right on target. We put a horse out there in front of him (Zayat’s stakes-placed filly Madam Aamoura); he needed a target.”

American Pharoah is expected to have two more works at Santa Anita before he is shipped to Kentucky sometime during Breeders’ Cup Week.

Breeders’ Cup entries will be drawn on Monday, Oct. 26.
