Gidu (IRE) chalked up his second straight stakes win on May 26 with a game score in the $100,000 Paradise Creek S. over the Belmont Park turf course.

The win kept the possibility of shipping to Great Britain for the Royal Ascot meet next month according to the colt's connections.

“Coming into this, we were thinking about going to Ascot if this went well, and it went well enough to continue to pursue that,” said Gidu's trainer Todd Pletcher. “I thought it was a good race for a horse that hadn't run in a while."

Off since winning the Columbia S. at Tampa Bay Downs on March 10, Gidu chased Masked through fast fractions of :22.05 and :44.31. The pace continued to be hot in the stretch, with Gidu getting by Masked inside the furlong marker, then holding off Curlin's Honor by nearly a half-length.

The final time for the seven furlongs on the firm turf was 1:20.44.

“He did what we were hoping he'd do, and I'll talk to Team Zayat about the next plan,” Pletcher added.

Gidu has now won three of five starts, with two seconds, and earned $166,000. By the immortal champion Frankel (GB), Gidu is out of Manerbe and is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Marbre Rose (IRE).
