Zayat Stables LLC's promising young colt showed his grit in winning the $75,000 Eddie Logan S. on Dec. 28 at Santa Anita, refusing to let fellow Richard Baltas-trainee Rijeka (IRE) by in the stretch to win the one-mile turf event by a length in his first stakes start.

Bob and Jackie has won two of three outings, with a good second in his debut, to up the 2-year-old colt's mark to 2-1-0 and earnings to $88,240.

Breaking from the outside post in the field of eight juveniles, Bob and Jackie vied for the lead with Manhattan Up for the first half-mile, which went in :47.63. From there, the bay colt took the top spot and would never relinquish it, despite heavy pressure in the stretch. The final time on the firm turf was 1:35.16.

“I had one speed horse and one closer,” said Baltas. “Bob and Jackie came out of the 8-hole and he pulled his way to the lead. With the rail being out today (20 feet), there might have been a little speed bias, but he's a good horse.”
