With a 2013 covering sire average of $255,625, WinStar Farm's first-year sire Bodemeister topped all North American freshman sires ranked by average.

Bodemeister also had the only seven-figure mare in foal to a first-year sire when Careless Jewel brought a winning bid of $1,850,000 at the Fasig-Tipton November sale.

Bodemeister had a total of 16 in-foal mares sell to date in 2013, with a median price of $145,000. Bred to 173 mares in 2013, Bodemeister will stud fee for 2014 will remain unchanged at $30,000 LFS&N.

Bodemeister had a remarkable career while racing in the silks of Zayat Stables, winning the Arkansas Derby (G1) by some ten lengths, as well as finishing second in both the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness S. (G1). He retired at the end of 2012 with earnings of $1.3 million.
