Bravo Habibi proved best in her 5 1/2-furlong maiden win at Fair Grounds on Feb. 12 despite getting bumped around on the turn and having to go four wide most of the trip.
The Zayat Stables' 3-year-old filly, trained by Steve Asmussen, chased the leaders three-wide into the turn, then bumped with Marching Orders in the turn, but rallied four wide coming into the stretch to run down the leaders and win going away by 1 1/2-lengths in the Sunday feature at the New Orleans track.
Zayat bought Bravo Habibi at the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale for $140,000. Bred in Kentucky by Kim and Rodney Nardelli, Bravo Habibi is out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Princess Sequoia, who is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Meter Maid and the undefeated Barilko, who won three stakes in Canada at age 2.
