Zayat Stables' 3-year-old colt Desert Stone (IRE) won his second consecutive race on June 1 at Santa Anita Park, taking a one-mile turf allowance by a half-length over La La Land (VIDEO).

The dark bay son of Fastnet Rock (AUS) got an excellent ride from Geovanni Franco, who also guided the colt to his maiden win on May 11. In fourth several lengths back for the first half-mile, Desert Stone began to move closer on the final turn. Blocked behind three horses, Franco found a seam in mid-stretch, coming between and inside horses to get up in the final strides.

The winner picked up $36,600 in victory and is trained by Richard Baltas. His sire Fastnet Rock was a two-time champion on the track and the leading sire in his native country on two occasions.
