Gozilla gallops to his debut win on Aug. 10 at Saratoga - NYRA photo
Zayat Stables unleashed a dynamic 2-year-old colt Saturday at Saratoga in the name of Gozilla, who powered his way to a 4 1/2-length maiden special weight win going six furlongs (VIDEO).

After covering the distance in front-running style in a very snappy 1:09.59, the chestnut juvenile was named a TDN Rising Star.

Hustled out of the gate by Rafael Santana, Jr., Gozilla quickly assumed command and went up by about two lengths in the first quarter-mile, then quickly pulled away from the field and was four lengths up at the top of the stretch. Unthreatened from then on, he continued strongly to the wire to win with complete authority.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Gozilla is by Flatter out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Atlantic Dream, whose siblings include multiple graded winner Icy Atlantic and graded winner Wild Promises.

Gozilla picked up $49,500 for the win. Zayat originally purchased him for $150,000 as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October sale.
