Jess I Am wins tight allowance contest at Fair Grounds
Zayat Stables' Jess I Am, a 5-year-old homebred son of Eskendereya, won his second race of the current Fair Grounds meet on Feb. 17 in a tight four-way photo in the 1 mile and 70 yard allowance contest for older horses.

The main track affair wasn't decided until the final strides. The field of five featured 2017 Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up Lookin At Lee, who would ultimately not be a factor. Jess I Am, in the two or three path the entire trip, was in second behind St. Louie Guy most of the way. The pacesetter began to tire in the final furlong. Jess I Am was among a trio of closers trying to get to the wire first, and just held off both Han Sense and Hollywood Handsome to secure the win.

Trained by Brad Cox, Jess I Am is out of Souma and has now earned $176,915.
