King Kranz wins inaugural Lost in the Fog S. at Aqueduct
Zayat Stables celebrated New Year’s Day when their 3-year-old colt King Kranz took the $125,000 Lost in the Fog S. at Aqueduct.

A tough-luck horse who hit the board in four of his five starts in 2015, including a second in Belmont Park’s (G2) Futurity, King Kranz broke into the winners’ column in a big way in the Lost in the Fog. Chasing a speedy Zen Papa through the first half mile, King Kranz powered to the front coming into the stretch, then comfortably held off Jan’s Reserve to win by a neck in 1:11.84 for the six furlongs over Aqueduct’s inner turf course.

King Kranz topped a unique Zayat trifecta: in the past three years, their first runner of each year has come back a winner, including El Kabeir in last year’s Jerome S. (G3).

King Kranz, who is trained by John Terranova, upped his lifetime earnings to $146,990 after the $75,000 payday.
