Lemoona is much the best in her maiden win
Lemoona drew off to a 6 1/2-length maiden special weight win in the finale at Aqueduct in Dec. 7 to give the 2-year-old filly trained by Bill Mott a promising head start on her 2018 campaign.

The Zayat Stables colorbearer took over the lead at the top of the stretch after stalking a couple lengths off the pace for the first six furlongs, then willing pulled away in the lane under Junior Alvarado (VIDEO).

Lemoona, daughter of Belmont S. (G1) winner Lemon Drop Kid out of Singita, was purchased by Zayat at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling sale. Singita is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Juniper Pass and is from the same family as Storm Cat.

Lemoona picked up $36,000 for Thursday's victory.
