Lemoona's big rally carries her to Possibly Perfect S. win
Lemoona's eye-catching rally in the final furlong earned the 4-year-old Zayat Stables her first stakes victory in Sunday's $79,000 Possibly Perfect S. over the Santa Anita downhill turf course.

This was also the first time the Richard Baltas trainee had gone 1 1/4-miles, though she easily won a 1 1/8-mile turf allowance in early April over the same course.

Just as she did a couple of months ago, jockey Mario Gutierrez kept his mount several lengths off the pace and outside of horses. It wasn't until he came into the stretch that he swung Lemoona several paths wide then set her down for the drive.

In full flight inside the final sixteenth, she rolled by Mirth to win by a neck in 2:02.18 on a firm turf course.

“I think getting back on the grass helped her'” said Gutierrez. “Last time she was well back and made one run and that’s what Richard told me to do today. I was able to get her to relax and just kick at the end and she gave me a helluva kick.”

Stakes-placed in the La Canada S. on the dirt in January, Lemoona is now 4-1-2 in 13 starts and has earned $217,445.
