Maimonides to Hand Ride Stables in Ohio for 2016
Maimonides, the Grade 1-placed juvenile and half-brother to El Corredor and Roman Ruler, will stand the 2016 breeding season at Hand Ride Stables in Dublin, Ohio. Owned by Zayat Stables, Maimonides’s fee has been set at $2,500 S&N.

“We are excited for the opportunity to stand Maimonides and think it’s a great fit for the Ohio accredited program,” said William Francis, who co-owns Hand Ride Stables with Daniel Leader. “Ohio breeders are looking for speedy two-year-olds and they should get that with him.”

A $4.6 million yearling purchase by Zayat Stables, Maimonides broke his maiden first-time out as a 2-year-old at Saratoga, streaking to an 11 ½-length victory and earning a 90 Beyer. The performance earned him TDN Rising Star status. Trained by Bob Baffert, Maimonides went on to become Grade 1-placed in his second start, setting a blistering early pace before holding on for third in the $250,000 Hopeful S. (G1) at Saratoga.

By Seattle Slew’s champion juvenile Vindication, Maimonides hails from the blue hen Silver Deputy mare Silvery Swan, the dam of Grade 1-winning colts and successful sires El Corredor and Roman Ruler.

“Maimonides has always been one of our favorites because of his stunning good looks, deep pedigree, and tremendous talent,” said Justin Zayat, racing and stallion manager for Zayat Stables. “He broke his maiden as impressively as any 2-year-old you’ll see at Saratoga, and showed he had Grade 1 quality in his second start. We believe Ohio breeders will like what they see.”

Maimonides will be available for inspection at Hand Ride Stables’ open house during the upcoming Keeneland January sale. The dates are set for Jan. 9 & 10 from noon to 4 p.m., and Jan. 16 & 17 from noon to 4 p.m.
