Mojgan sprints to Santa Anita maiden special weight win

Mojgan emerged with the lead from a four-way speed duel about three furlongs from the wire on the way to her May 17 maiden special weight win at Santa Anita Park.

The 3-year-old Zayat Stables filly covered the 5 1/2-furlongs in 1:05.39, besting Jest a Princess by a length. The winner picked up $32,400 for the victory.

Trained by Richard Baltas, the daughter of Flatter-Piedras Negras is a half-sister to graded stakes winner La Traviata. Piedras Negras is a half-sister to millionaire and multiple graded stakes winner Jack Sullivan.
