Zayat Stables' Prayer for Relief rallied through the Remington Park stretch to triumph by a head in the $175,000 Governor's Cup S. on Saturday, avenging his loss by a nose in the 2012 running of the 1 1/8 mile affair (VIDEO).

Things got off to a bit of a tough start as the 5-year-old Jump Start horse bobbled a bit at the break and then was forced four wide around the first turn. Down the backside, however, Rafael Santana settled his mount into a comfortable spot just a couple of lengths off the lead of the fairly compact five-horse field.

Around the final turn, Santana still found himself with nowhere to go but to the outside as he began to make his move for the lead. A spirited four-horse battle emerged in mid-stretch, with Prayer for Relief first putting away Stachys and then holding off Worldly to get the distance in 1:50.42.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Prayer for Relief now has five stakes wins to his credit, with the previous four all coming in graded events. Zayat originally purchased Prayer for Relief for $80,000 at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling sale. After Saturday's payday of $105,000, his lifetime earnings now stand at $1,524,725.
