Solomini a finalist for 2YO Male Eclipse Award
Zayat Stables' classy juvenile colt Solomini was named a finalist for the 2017 2-year-old Male Eclipse Award, joining Bolt d'Oro and Good Magic. The Eclipse Awards winners will be announce Thursday, Jan. 25 at Gulfstream Park.

Solomini was among the best of his generation, though the Bob Baffert trainee had some definite hard-luck finishes. Among those were his most recent start, the Dec. 9 Los Alamitos Futurity (G1), where he crossed the wire first, but in a controversial decision, was placed third behind stablemate McKinzie.

Solomini also finished second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) and the FrontRunner S. (G1), which was his first start around two turns following his debut maiden win on Sept. 2.

Solomini recently had his first work for Baffert since the Futurity, and is training towards his 2018 debut on the Triple Crown Trail.
