Freshman sire Zensational, a three-time Grade 1 winner, sired his first winner when his 2-year-old filly Sensational Nikki debuted a three-quarter length winner June 2 at Hollywood Park.

Trained by Peter Miller for Rockingham Ranch, Sensational Nikki went off the 6-5 favorite in the five furlong dash. Going three wide around the turn and into the stretch, the chestnut filly swept to the lead to open up by a couple of lengths in mid-stretch, then held sway late under a strong hand ride by Edwin Maldonado.

Campaigned by Zayat Stables, Zensational was particularly brilliant at three, when he became the first horse ever to win three Grade 1 sprints in a row, annexing the Triple Bend H., Bing Crosby S., and Pat O'brien S. He retired with five wins in eight starts, earning $669,300.

Zensational stands at Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Lexington, Ky. for a fee of $15,000 stands and nurses. His first 2-year-olds have averaged $97,850 from 15 horses sold at this year.

Rockingham was the winning bidder for Sensational Nikki at the 2013 Barretts March 2-year-old in training sale, going to $75,000 for the filly. Bred by Gaines-Gentry Thorougbreds, Sensational Nikki is out of the four-time stakes winner Liberada.
